Hill Walking – the nearest Munro is Ben Lomond, only a 20 minute drive away. The Arrochar Alps and Ben Vorlich, among others, are easily accessible. For the less ambitious, the Conic Hill (1,000ft) rises above Balmaha and affords spectacular views over the islands of Loch Lomond. Or perhaps just a lovely lochside walk from Passfoot to Millarochy Bay.

Boats – hire from The Balmaha Boatyard just across the Bay. Trips are available on the famous mailboat to the islands. Inchcailleoch itself is worth a visit to see the ruined chapel and graveyard.

Bikes – hire locally, there are lots of forest tracks and quiet roads to explore. A favourite trip is to take the Sir Walter Scott steamer to the head of Loch Katrine and then cycle back along the lochside road.

Bird watching – is a popular activity with a nature reserve at the mouth of the River Endrick within sight of the cottage.

Golf and Fishing – facilities are all nearby.

Culture/History – within easy reach of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh with their castles, museums and theatres. Or just relax at the end of a busy day.
